WASTE SORTING
The industry has come a long way from manual sorting to fully automated systems, readily available in majority of European recycling infrastructures.
Technological improvements allow for plastics to be sorted in more refined streams. This in turn decreases the number of unwanted materials and contaminants, allowing for a higher quality of recycling input.
To boost transparency & promote the standardisation of sorting practices, PRE developed the Recycling Input Characterisation Guiding Requirements. These documents aim to set industry-wide standards for the benchmarking of high-quality recycling practices.
