PET Properties

PET - polyethylene terephthalate

PET belongs to the family of polyesters. It consists of ethylene glycol (alcohol) and the acid – terephthalic acid. It is derived during a chemical process, called poly-condensation.

PET, thanks to its lightweight and its durability, one of the most widely used polymer in the packaging industry.

It is very strong, crystal clear (has glass-like properties), and has excellent gas barrier properties which allow for keeping fizz in carbonated drinks. It protects as well the taste of drinks in bottles. It has high impact capability as well as shatter resistance.
